If emotions took on colors and a composition, you could likely identify a few in my bodies of work. Whether it’s the sporadic push and pull of uncertainty or the blissful yet fleeting feeling of new-found freedom, I paint from a place of complex and raw emotions, and painting has served as an outlet for me throughout my life. As is true of emotions, my work is deeply personal consisting of several layers and punctuated by signature marks.
Nature, diverse cultures, and eclectic fashion are often inputs for my color palettes with metallic accents always within arm’s reach. I frequently use a palette knife, molding paste, and sandpaper to give my work a tactile element and achieve an impasto effect. For me, composing a piece is a transformative act; one that results in a vibrant and rhythmic work as well as an ongoing exploration of self-discovery.
It is my hope that my observers linger in the details on the canvas long enough to walk away with an immense sense of peace and joy. Whether through bold colors or unconventional shapes, I aim to create a visual language that speaks directly to the heart.
