Jason Shih has been engaged in sculpture creation for over 30 years, completing more than 80 public art projects in Taiwan. His works have received numerous prestigious awards, including the Silver Medal at the National Art Exhibition, Excellence Award at the Dadun Fine Arts Exhibition, Bronze Medal at the Taichung Sculpture Award, the Ministry of Culture's Public Art Award, Italy’s A’Design Award, the U.S. Muse Design Awards, the UK’s London Design Awards, and the Future Art & Design Award, among hundreds of other national and international art accolades.
Born in 1972 in Lukang, Changhua—a town renowned for its traditional craftsmanship—Shih Cheng-Tse enrolled in the Department of Fine Arts at Taipei National University of the Arts in 1991, studying under Professor Lee Kuang-Yu and graduating with a major in sculpture in 1996. After completing his military service, he pursued further studies at the Rochester Institute of Technology in New York, USA (1999), where he studied metal sculpture under Leonard A. Urso at the School for American Crafts. He earned his Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in 2001. Subsequently, he worked as an assistant to renowned New York-based metal sculptor Albert Paley, gaining hands-on experience in metal craftsmanship and large-scale public art projects.
