Jun T. Lai, born in 1953, graduated from the Department of Art, Culture University in 1974 and received her Masters of Arts from Tama Art University, Japan. She participated in several artist exchange programs in the U.S., France and Switzerland. In her 30 years of creative work, she developed a diversity of materials to use in her art work that reflect her aesthetic beliefs. Her vigorous strength and passions for life can be seen from her over 100 public exhibits in Taiwan, Japan, the U.S., Australia, France, and Switzerland.
Her pieces employ a plethora of colors, and by declaring freedom and light, she brings comfort to the souls of her viewers. Her public art is recognized all over Taiwan at MRT stations, airports, government buildings, universities, and public parks. Since 2005, Lai’s Ocean Garden, a vast installation at Hong Kong’s MTR Tsing Yi Station, has brought over a decade of light and color, feelings of serenity and peace to the hearts of travelers.
